I have been tagged by Flagpolesitta. I have been charged with coming up with 5 songs that begin with the letter "N".
Here goes:
1. Never Ending Song of Love-Delaney & Bonnie OR Patty Loveless and Dwight Yoakam.
2. Never Been To Spain- Creedence Clearwater Revival (Elvis did a bang up job on this one, too)
3. New York Mining Disaster, 1941 - Bee Gees
4. North To Alaska- Johnny Horton
5. Nowhere Man-The Beatles
He said 5, but, I thought of a couple more:
6. Nashville Cats-The Lovin' Spoonful OR Del McCoury Band
7. Norwegian Wood-The Beatles
8. Nightlife-Willie, Ray Price and a bunch of other people.
So, I guess this means I have to tag someone else...who will it be?
Take a whiff of Sista Smiff and you'll come back for more, that's fo sho!

Never Been To Spain was also done by Three Dog Night, and was written by late Hoyt Axton, who was a great song writer and always fun to see in a movie.
Nashville Cats was a favorite of mine as a kid. I think it was on the B side of the 45 of Lovin' Spoonfuls song Summer In The City.
I MEANT Three Dog Night...duh. I should never post so early! HA!
I had the cool priviledge to hang with Hoyt and I knew his mother very well. Hoyt was an amazing talent. Besides a great writer, he was a doggone good character actor.
Blogarita stole my thunder about Three Dog Night. Dang. I had no idea that Elvis did it too.
I also just found Nashville Cats recently - had never heard it. It's a pretty rockin tune.
Ok, I give. Give me a letter.
My Bloggin Sista...you get the letter E.
(I promise you were the one I was gonna tag anyway!)
E it is. Should be challenging.
Man, I haven't even heard of most of those.
>>Man, I haven't even heard of most of those.
This is one of the very few advantages to being old....... ah...sorry sista,I meant to say knowledgable, about the music.
I can remember when this old boy who listened to nothing but country music who happened to hear a couple of those bad ole rock songs, The Pusher and Joy to the World. Both, I think, also written by Hoyt. Changed my horizon a little.
Another song that just crossed my mind, though it has never been too far from it, is Kay by John Wesley Ryles and more recently by Daryle Singletary. I think it is the most lovelorn, lonely, dedicated to love , pitiful songs to come out of and talk of, the actual nashville musical experience, from the wrong side.
Ah, now I gotta find me a tissue...

I was 2 when Never Been To Spain was released...I was 1 when Never Ending Song was released ...the rest came out before I had ever seen the light of day. So, yay! I don't actually remember when they were all out as "current" songs.
